Diogo Evangelista · Blind Faith
Thursday, February 13, 2020 - 19:30
Escola das Artes | UCP | Centro Regional do Porto
The exhibition by Diogo Evangelista, Blind Faith, takes us on a journey to a pseudo-historical world.
Starting from a surreal narrative, similar to a dream and a hallucination, it seeks to materialize the feeling of fullness that precedes the dematerialization of a body.
The exhibition is articulated around three major elements:
A video installation of great sentimental exuberance, produced exclusively in CGI and that models feelings often inexpressible from real life, addressing the concepts of fear, death and transcendence that haunt humanity in a universal way. A sculpture of retrofuturistic aesthetics, but inspired by the fake doors of Ancient Egypt built in the temples to allow a free passage of the Soul, thus leading to the idea of passage and transition from one state to another. And also a painting on plexiglass, in the shape of a pentagonal star, which in many ancient and modern societies symbolizes the concepts of transformation and rebirth and the relationship between human beings and the universe.
