4th CARE Gathering “CARE Beyond Disciplinarity”

Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), operating within the scope of its Research and Development activities (CARE: CAtólica REsearch), will bring together its 15 Research Units (hailing from Lisbon, Porto, Braga, and Viseu) on September 22nd at its Headquarters in Lisbon, for the 4th Edition of the CARE Gathering, which this year will feature “CARE Beyond Disciplinarity” as its main topic.
This gathering is intended – within the framework of the strategic lines of development defined for UCP – as a moment of debate and sharing of experiences, insights, and projects among UCP’s Research Units, the Católica Doctoral School (CADOS), and in house and external guests boasting a vast and renowned experience of scientific research, aiming at a strong alignment with national and international initiatives (in particular, European) regarding topics such as smart specialization, open science, circular economy, social economy, the importance of art and culture in society, ethics in economy and law, equality and equity in science, in the University, and in society, the humanizing of an increasingly technological society, and in particular the topic set forth for this year’s edition which aims at connecting the different discussion fields: “CARE Beyond Disciplinarity”.
Transdisciplinarity is a key point in Universidade Católica Portuguesa’s vision for the development of a scientific research culture, and it gains an even greater importance in a contemporary landscape which calls for the sharing of knowledge languages and the coordination of efforts in the understanding of different perspectives towards the achievement of a so desired sustainable development at the most diverse levels.
