Research and Innovation Office

One core Universidade Católica Portuguesa strategic goal involves continuing to build its profile as a research university. In order to achieve this goal, there is the corresponding need to boost the inputs provided by international research networks and increase institutional competitiveness as regards accessing R&D financial funding.

The Research and Innovation Office was launched in late 2016 within the scope of the Rectory and under the auspices of the Vice-Rector responsible for this field. With the nomination of the R&I Office head in January 2018, the Office has taken on the following attributions and competences:

• Compiling and disseminating all of the information pertaining to tenders for scholarships and projects, FCT and EU support programs, and support programs run by other public and private institutions to the UCP research community;
• Providing support to the institutional engagement of the UCP with the bodies and entities rendering support to research, especially the FCT;
• Monitoring the funds received by the UCP and supervising their expenditure;
• Monitoring the research system at the UCP (particularly through the UCP Scientific Potential Survey) and consolidating the global UCP R&D data;
• Promoting R&D activities to the media in conjunction with the External Communication and Development Office;
• Supporting the performance of the Vice-Rector responsible for the field of research in the scientific management of the R&D Units and monitoring the R&D Data Quality System.
