Católica inaugurates exhibition “Trono de Maria, Lugar de Sabedoria”

"This is an exhibition of mission, a space for dialogue of distinct languages, of sacred art with contemporary strategies," with these statements Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, inaugurated the exhibition “Trono de Maria, Lugar de Sabedoria”, in the Amélia de Mello Foundation Gallery, at the UCP headquarters.

Addressing the attendees present, the President noted that the image of Mary, Seat of Wisdom, "represents in a very happy way what is the relationship of the university's knowledge, as a seat of knowledge, with the Christian message of the world as a space of openness, dialogue, recognition and cultivation of beauty and wisdom."

The thematic exhibition is an initiative of the Cultura@Católica program. Paulo Campos Pinto, director of this initiative and of the Amélia de Mello Foundation Gallery, pointed out that "this exhibition is a tribute of the university to Our Lady of Wisdom, or Seat of Wisdom, to whom the UCP dedicated the chapel of the campus where we are."

The Gallery's director also expressed his desire "for this exhibition to be a space that allows us to overcome the hectic daily routine of academic and professional life, while also contributing to a place of rest and, for those who have faith, a place of prayer."

About the subject of this exhibition, curator Maria Isabel Roque explained that "under the feminine sign of Mary, knowledge is a form of liberation and a way to overcome the limits and injustices that remain inherent to the condition of women."

“Trono de Maria, Lugar de Sabedoria” will be open to the public until 21st March 2023, every weekday from 2pm to 5pm, at the Amélia de Mello Foundation Gallery. Guided tours - by appointment through: catolicacultura@gmail.com
