At this event, focused on the choice of specialisation, a factor in valuing and differentiating lawyers in an increasingly competitive job market, candidates will be able to:

  • find out about the courses from the programme coordinators and professors;
  • answer questions and share experiences with 2nd cycle students;
  • networking with recruiters.

World Radio Day | Quase FM special programme

To commemorate World Radio Day, celebrated on 13 February, Quase FM, the student radio station of the Faculty of Human Sciences at UCP, is organising a special programme with the participation of UCP alumni and Radio hosts: Teresa Oliveira (RR), Renato Duarte (RR), Cristina Nascimento (informação Renascença), Madalena Costa (MegaHits), Rodrigo Gomes (RFM) and Ana Colaço (RFM).  

The commemorative broadcast, which will take place from 3.30pm to 5pm, will also feature presenter Renato Duarte (RR).

Centre for the Study of Religious History organises a Religious History Seminar, cycle 2024, on the theme "Santidade à portuguesa: da inventio às relíquias e do culto à história 'Epílogo da vida de D. Afonso Henriques: a tentativa de beatificação (século XVIII)'", on 19 February at 18h00.

This event will be attended by Manuel Francisco Ramos (FLUP-IF-CITCEM) and Abel Estefânio (Researcher).

This cycle, organised in partnership with the Cabido Portucalense and with the support of the University of Porto's CITCEM, consists of 12 sessions between February and December 2024 (with an interruption in August).

Literacia Política e Mediática em destaque na Faculdade de Direito da Católica no Porto

Com a aproximação das eleições legislativas agendadas para 10 de março, a Faculdade de Direito - Escola do Porto da Universidade Católica Portuguesa está empenhada em fomentar a literacia política e mediática através do programa ADN Jurista. Como parte deste compromisso, vai realizar-se a 20 de fevereiro, às 17h15 na Universidade Católica Portuguesa, uma sessão com jornalistas intitulada “Na cabeça de: Pedro Nuno, Montenegro e Ventura”. Uma sessão que conta com a participação de estudantes, mas aberta ao público.

“Pretendemos que seja uma sessão de debate, onde os oradores convidados possam, com base nas suas obras e experiência, incentivar os nossos estudantes a participar ativamente na vida do país,” refere Manuel Fontaine, diretor da Faculdade de Direito – Escola do Porto da Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Open Class: "In between ideas of (dis)embodiment and opacity through technology, within the Palestinian contemporary cinema"

In the scope of the International Studies Programme, on February 28th, the Open Class of Arts, International Law and International Relations will be about "In between ideas of (dis)embodiment and opacity through technology, within the Palestinian contemporary cinema" with Guilherme Blanc, artistic director at the Batalha Centro de Cinema.

Summary:
In this lecture, ideas of 'Disembodiment' and 'Opacity' will be debated, focusing on the practice of filmmakers and artists from Palestine who have been tackling the theme of the country’s occupation and conflict.

It will be discussed ways through which certain technological devices have been used over the past years, not only as a form of reflection on issues of deterritorialization, but also of counter-occupation. In parallel, being observed how certain filmic mechanisms are used in the conception of the ‘body’ in its distant relationship with an occupied territory, while examining possibilities of re-embodiment in a displaced context.

Biography:
Guilherme Blanc is Artistic Director at the Batalha Centro de Cinema. Between 2018 and 2021, he worked as Head of Contemporary Art for the City Council in Porto, where he directed projects such as Galeria Municipal do Porto, Fórum do Futuro and funding programmes to contemporary art and cinema. Over time he has worked as an independent film curator, collaborating with institutions such as the Institute of Contemporary Arts and the Barbican Centre in London. From 2014 to 2018, he was Deputy to Councillor and Mayor of Porto for Culture. Blanc lectures Film at BA and MA courses at Universidade Católica Portuguesa — Escola das Artes.

Graduated in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin in 2014 with a Master’s thesis focused on the design of chitosan-based random and aligned nanofibrous membranes, with the aim to investigate the influence of substrate morphology on Schwann Cells adhesion and proliferation. After her Master’s Degree, Rossella worked in a startup company (Epinova Biotech srl, CEO Prof. F. Renò) as fellowship researcher focusing on thermoplastic scaffold fabrication through additive manufacturing technologies (Fused Deposition Modeling - FDM) for Tissue Engineering applications. In November 2016, Rossella moved back to Polytechnic of Turin, where, in July 2020, she obtained her Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences (with honors) with a Ph.D. dissertation entitled “Stimuli-responsive poly(ether urethane) hydrogels for the design of smart patient-specific patches in skin wound treatment”. From August 2020 to December 2021, she worked as Post-Doc Researcher in the same institution in the framework of an Horizon 2020 project on the development of a bone tissue model as a preclinical evaluation tool under the supervision of Prof. G. Ciardelli. Since January 2022, she is a not-tenure researcher at Polytechnic of Turin.

Rossella’s research interests mainly focus on multi-functional biomaterial development, green functionalization procedures and biomaterial processing as bio-inks and mini-invasive delivery systems towards the engineering of patient-specific devices for wound healing and tissue-mimicking constructs as preclinical validation tools. This research activity has produced 17 research papers in international peer reviewed journals, 2 book chapters and 2 research awards from Gruppo Nazionale di Bioingegneria. In September 2022 Rossella was also awarded as Early Career Investigator-2022 from the International Society for Biofabrication in recognition for her contribution to the biofabrication field. She serves as Reviewer and Guest Editor for several international journals and as Topic Editor for Pharmaceutics and Materials journals. She has an H-index of 11 with around 380 citations (SCOPUS).

Cáritas Portuguesa, the Porto Regional Centre of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Cáritas Diocesana do Porto are promoting the conference "Portugal without poverty: challenges and opportunities", which will take place on 27 February at 10am.

This event aims to bring together organisations and personalities working in the social, university and business fields with the aim of debating the main problems affecting our country, outlining the fight against poverty in Portugal and at the same time trying to draw up future scenarios that envisage its eradication.
