The next CATÓLICA-LISBON digital conference will take place on May 19th at 5:00 pm under the Knowledge - Digital Conferences initiative.

Professor Sérgio Rebelo will share is views on the impact of COVID-19 for the global economy and what we can expect in the months ahead, as we fight, at the same time, a global sanitary crisis and an economic recession.

Professor Sérgio Rebelo is one of the most well known Portuguese Economists in the world. He is currently the Tokai Bank Distinguished Professor of International Finance at the Kellogg School of Management, where he has served as Chair of the Finance Department. He has published widely in macroeconomics and international finance and has won numerous research and teaching awards, including Kellogg’s Professor of the Year Award. He has served as consultant to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the European Central Bank, the McKinsey Global Institute, and the Global Markets Institute at Goldman Sachs. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Rochester. He is a graduate in Economics of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, where he was a faculty member and served as Director of the Finance MBA program. He was distinguished with CATÓLICA-LISBON'S Career Award in 2007.

International Relations Office

With the goal of enabling and coordinating the international mobility activities engaged in by its various Academic Units and Centres, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa International Relations Service was launched in 1991.

Its founding objectives are:

• Dynamically boosting the internationalisation of the University by fostering activities targeted at all Academic Units;

• Managing the relationships between UCP and international universities and university federations;

• Maintaining contacts with institutions of international scope within the framework of sounding out, gathering, and processing information on projects in the educational, cultural and scientific fields;

• Promoting, among its Academic Units and Centres, the diverse educational, cultural and scientific projects of an international scope of relevance to them;

• Fostering and coordinating the exchange of staff and students with international universities, especially under the auspices of the Erasmus Programme.

Michaël Dudok de Wit is a well-known Dutch animator, director and illustrator. Whose works have already been awarded with an Oscar and a BAFTA Award. He was also the first non-Japanese director to direct a production in the renowned Ghibli Studios of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata.

In "From Michaël" (2020), Michaël Dudok de Wit will adress some questions from students of the School of Arts regarding subjects such as his creative process, his particular style of animation, his major influences and his thoughts on the future of hand-drawn animation. He also speaks about the spirituality and musicality of his films, and the changes brought about by the pandemic for animators. 

Leonor Henriques, Bruno Mutti, Maria Giraldes, Daniel Claro and Inês Russell will be the students involved in this conversation.
 
This session will also serve as a launch for Ink and Motion # 1 · International Conference on Animation and Comics, where Michaël Dudok de Wit will be present as a keynote speaker.
 
The transmission will take place simultaneously in the School of Arts' website, Facebook and YouTube pages.
