Católica researchers in the World Top Scientists ranking, according to Stanford University

Eight researchers from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) are among the World's Top Scientists, according to the ranking "World's Top 2% Scientists 2022", prepared by Stanford University (USA).

In the areas of Economics and Management, the researchers Filipe Santos from Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics and Rui Sousa, from Católica Porto Business School are highlighted. In the area of Biomedicine and Clinical Medicine in Nutrition, Metabolism and Medicine, the researcher Paula Ravasco of the Faculty of Medicine appears. From the Faculty of Biotechnology, the researchers Célia Manaia and Paula Teixeira in Biomedicine; the researcher Manuela Pintado in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; the researcher João C. Fernandes in Clinical Medicine; and the researcher Marta W. Vasconcelos in Biology.

In addition to the analysis of the research impact last year, the ranking evaluates the impact generated for science, throughout the researchers' careers. Four UCP researchers are also highlighted here: Célia Manaia, João C. Fernandes, Paula Ravasco and Manuela Pintado, already mentioned above.

"It is with great pride that, once again, the excellence of our researchers is internationally recognised, in areas as diverse as Economics and Biomedicine, as well as the impact of this research for the community" highlights Isabel Capeloa Gil, President Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

The research produced at UCP is, again, internationally recognized, as the university was considered, also this month, as the best Portuguese higher education institution, for the 4th consecutive year, by Times Higher Education, in THE World University Rankings 2023.

The ranking, "World's Top 2% Scientists 2022", now released, with the results of more than 195 thousand scientists from around the world, from 22 areas and 176 disciplines, presents the list of researchers whose published work contributed most to the progress in their respective areas and that most influenced the scientific production of other researchers. The study can be consulted here.
